Week two
Day One
On the Monday, you will meet your driving instructor according to what the details on your envelope state. He will check your licences, then take you down to the garage and to the training bus. He or she will then go through with you what you must look for when checking your vehicle, loose seats, dangerous panel-work, cracked windows etc, go through controls of the cab with you, make sure you understand what's expected of you. Later on, the driving instructor will then take you out, and you will drive the bus for the very first time! Good luck!
Day Two
This day you will be expected to do the safety checks yourself, start the bus up, and then you will go out for a full days training. You will be expected to hone breaking especially, as it uses air breaks and are vastly different to hydraulic breaks in your car! You will also do a lot more left and right turns!
Day Three
Here you will hopefully be mastering subtle break control, to manage steering and planning well ahead. You will also be pulling into and out of bus stops quite often.
Day four
If you failed your theory, you will retake this in the morning and meet up again with your driving instructor in the afternoon. If you passed, a full days training, mastering hazard perception to plan well ahead, and subtle use of the main controls including steering, breaking and acceleration.
Day Five
If you failed the theory and/or CPC last week, you will retake this morning and meet up with your instructor again in the afternoon. You will be expected to show improvement in most aspects of controlling the bus, with a few errors to be expected. You will pull into bus stops, and be taught correct use of door movements, rear and front doors, and to pull away again safely.
